Well-Trained, Experienced Bariatric Surgeon
Cooper Clinic is fortunate to have a Board-Certified surgeon who is well-trained and experienced in performing weight loss surgeries. In 2014, Dr. Eckes was designated as a Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence Surgeon by the Surgical Review Corporation.
Darryl W. Eckes, MD
Comprehensive Weight Loss Program
Dr. Eckes and his staff provide a comprehensive weight loss program including medical and surgical services as well as nutritional support. They understand that permanent weight loss is an important and life-changing journey. The process includes pre-operative education, selection of an experienced surgeon and the bariatric procedure that’s appropriate for you, and having nutritional and group support available following surgery.
Meet Traci Hayes, Bariatric Coordinator
As Bariatric Coordinator for the Cooper Clinic Weight Loss Surgery Center, Traci Hayes is committed to helping patients through every step of their weight loss journey.
Traci often says “been there, done that” – meaning that she chose weight loss surgery herself four years ago, so she truly understands the process. While she sees her surgery as an important tool in helping her lose weight, she also appreciates that she must continue to be actively involved in healthy lifestyle choices that will ensure life-long success.
Her story may sound similar to your own. She battled yo-yo dieting, high blood pressure, a high blood glucose level, and a strong family history of diabetes. After surgery, her weight loss was steady, and now more than 100 pounds lighter, she is healthy, happy, and able to keep up with three active daughters and a grandchild.
If you have questions regarding weight loss surgery, feel free to visit with Traci.

Surgical Weight Loss Procedures
Orbera – Non-Surgical Weight Loss Procedure
While we feel that the best advice will come from your own surgeon and staff, some bariatric patients benefit from sharing their weight loss experience with others. Those patients are encouraged to participate with a support group. A bariatric support group meets the last Wednesday of each month in the Sicard Education Center on the first floor of the Mercy Medical Building, 7001 Rogers Avenue. Two sessions are offered—one at 8:30 a.m. and one at 6:30 p.m. An informative program is part of each meeting featuring such topics as meal planning, exercise, supplements, and lifestyle changes.
