We realize the cost of healthcare can be challenging, especially in these difficult economic times. In response, we have implemented the new credit policies summarized below. Patients without insurance and those with outstanding balances will now have consistent policies to help them pay their financial obligation for past services while continuing to receive care from their Cooper Clinic physicians.
Are all patients affected by the new policies?
If your account is current—in other words, if you pay your statement in full each month—you may only be minimally affected by these policy changes. Generally, the new credit policies have been developed to help patients with an outstanding account balance to continue to receive medical care.
For office visits, what payment will be required on the day of service?
- For patients with insurance, co-pays will be collected at the time of service in accordance with the terms of your plan.
- Insured patients with no co-pay, who have an outstanding balance or unmet deductible, will be asked to pay an Encounter Payment of $50 at the time of service.
- For patients without insurance, payment will be required at the time of service.
- Patients with past due balances or previous credit problems will be required to pay a $50 Encounter Payment, pay toward their past due balance, and/ or make payment in full. Those patients will be contacted prior to their appointment to confirm the payment amount due on the day of service.
For radiologic exams (i.e. CT, MRI, PET), specialty treatments and surgeries, what payment will be required on the day of service?
Patients will be notified in advance of scheduled procedures. Payment will be required in accordance with the patient’s insurance plan and credit history.
What methods of payment are accepted at Cooper Clinic?
Your account may be paid by cash, check, or debit/credit card including Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. Patients may also qualify for Care Credit Financing or Monthly Budget Payment Plans.
