Lab Results:
Test results will not be released to any patient by lab personnel. Within two days of your lab test(s), the results will be made available to the ordering physician. Your doctor will review the results and notify you (unless other arrangements have been agreed upon). The results of studies sent outside Cooper Clinic to reference labs (Quest Laboratories, Mayo Medical Laboratories, Athena Laboratories, St. Edward Mercy Medical Center Lab, and Sparks Regional Medical Center Lab) may take longer to receive.
Patient Instructions:
Click the links below for urine and stool specimen instructions. In you have questions regarding other lab studies, call the lab location that will administer your test.
Fasting Required:
The following lab tests require that you “fast” 8 hours before your blood is drawn. “Fasting” means that you do not eat or drink during that time period.
- LIPID PANEL
- LDL
- HDL
- TRIGLYCERIDES
- GLUCOSE
- GLUCOSE TOLERANCE TEST
- CMP (Complete Metabolic Panel)
- BMP (Basic Metabolic Panel)
- RENAL PROFILE
Leaving a specimen:
When you drop off a specimen at any Cooper Clinic lab location, make sure that the container is marked with your name, date of birth, and the name of the ordering physician. Also, please do not leave the specimen on an unattended counter; place it in the hands of a Cooper Clinic employee before you leave.
Please Tell Us:
If you have any of the following special conditions, please tell your phlebotomist at the time your blood is drawn:
- Allergy to latex products
- If your blood tends to clot quickly
